What Yagya Purusha Means and Why He Is Invoked at the Purnahuti

At the end of every baglamukhi havan at Narwar Dham, before the Purnahuti - the final complete offering - the pandit invokes Yagya Purusha. The cosmic person of the yagya itself. The being who receives, on behalf of all deities, the totality of what has been offered into the fire.

This is one of the most subtle understandings in the Vedic havan vidhi, and most modern pujas skip it. The Narwar tradition does not.

Who Yagya Purusha Is

In the Vedic understanding, every yagya - every fire ritual - has its own cosmic person. Yagya Purusha is the personification of the act of yagya itself. He is not a separate deity who receives offerings. He is the principle that stands behind every offering ever made - what makes the offering reach the deity it was intended for.

To invoke Yagya Purusha at the Purnahuti is to acknowledge the medium through which the entire baglamukhi havan has worked. Maa Baglamukhi received the offerings - but Yagya Purusha is what carried them.

Why the Purnahuti Specifically

The Purnahuti is the final, complete offering. Everything that has been done in the baglamukhi puja is gathered into this moment. To invoke Yagya Purusha just before this offering is to ensure that the entire ceremony - not just this final offering - is being addressed correctly through its proper medium.

What This Means in Practice

When you join a SiddhiStar baglamukhi ceremony, the moment of Purnahuti is the most concentrated of the entire baglamukhi havan. The pandit invokes Yagya Purusha by specific mantra. The Purnahuti is offered. The fire receives the entirety of what has been offered. The ceremony's effect locks into form at this point.
