Overview

What is this anushthan?

Guru Graha Shanti is the jap anushthan of Brihaspati Dev, the guru of the devas and the graha the parampara holds as the lord of wisdom, dharma, wealth, marriage and children. It is sought when marriage is long delayed, when a couple prays for children, when life feels without direction or right counsel, and when an astrologer reads a weak Guru in the chart, for the parampara considers Guru the most benefic of the grahas and his grace far-reaching. The parampara links Brihaspati to the guru's blessing, to expansion and good fortune, and, for a woman's chart, to marriage and the qualities of a husband. His day is Thursday, his colour yellow, his offering the chana dal and haldi, and his shanti is a household's prayer for wisdom and auspicious growth. At SiddhiStar the anushthan is performed by lineage-trained pandits in the shastriya krama, with your name and gotra carried into the sankalp. The count is chosen at booking, and where a devotee wishes to do more, the parampara allows the anushthan to be raised to a sawa lakh. The rite is sealed by the dashansh hawan, and where hawan cannot be arranged, additional jap is completed in its place.

Opening sequence

Pavitrikaran & Achaman

The pandit and the jaap sthal are purified with sacred water, and achaman is taken, before the anushthan begins.

Tilak, Bhasma & Mala Dharan

Tilak is applied, bhasma marked, and the jap mala worn, in the discipline the parampara asks of the one who chants.

Dik Rakshan

Yellow mustard is offered to the four directions to secure the jaap sthal.

This flow follows the jap-anushthan krama of the parampara. The rite is performed at your home, in the hybrid model, or live from Narwar Dham.

Guru Graha Shanti is chanted to the sankalpita sankhya by lineage-trained pandits, at home, hybrid, or online, sealed by the dashansh hawan. Name and gotra are recorded for the sankalp. The Puja and Hawan Samagri Kits are included in the price; the family arranges the puja-specific items, perishables, and hawan materials listed under Samagri. Benefits are as the parampara teaches, not assured. Sankhya and schedule are confirmed at booking.
